H&M Haul and a shoe deal

Did some shopping Friday at H&M... I picked up a few tops and a simple dress. The 2 tops were buy one get one half off. $12.95 each. The dress was $14.95. I can easily wear this to work paired with leggings and a simple cardigan. Total for all $34.37! I love Minnesota, no tax on clothes:)

A few months ago, I also scored a deal from Amiclubwear.com. All of these shoes were on clearance, for a total of $51.96! Free shipping over $50. My favorite pair are the nude suede pumps.

Home Depot Haul

I stopped by my local Home Depot yesterday to buy a can of polyurethane... I decided to check out the oops paint. Grabbed 2 colors from the sample sized Behr paints for $.50 each. Was surprised to find other items as well. We are in the process of waterproofing our basement. So finding Drylock, "Etch" at $1.66 was a good deal for an open bottle. Originally at $6.99... And the best part, I also found silicone caulk that was for free! I have never seen that before. I'm going to definitely check that area more often!

Garden Inspiration

I love visiting gardens and nurseries,. Today, we went to our local Como Conservatory. I studied Japanese in  College and High School, and I was lucky enough to spend a summer in Japan when I was 17. Memories I will never forget. So to no surprise, the Japanese Garden was my favorite. We live in Zone 4. Nagasaki, Masami Matsuda designed the garden to Japanese principles using plants and trees hardy to Minnesota. I was so excited to see that some of the plants used, are the same ones in my backyard! :) (bleeding hearts, hostas, rhododendrons...) I would love to add some Japanese inspired designs to my backyard. But, one step at a time.

Welcome Home

I love my front entry door! This door is original to our 1963 home. Originally wood, but painted white. I love how the door also has a peep through window with detailed iron work. It's simple and chic.

W Hotel

A few weeks ago, we went on a short get away and booked a night out to Dt MPLS. Had a great dinner at Mannys Steak House, great conversation with my darling and spent a comfortable night lounging around. I love it when check out time is at noon,  don't feel as rushed to relax and still some time to enjoy myself. I love everything about the W, the modern yet simple decor to the soothing lighting.

Storage and decoration solution

The side wall in the living room has been an empty space for quite some time. I had a TV console sitting in the garage unused. I thought about how I could use it around our home, a bench at the foot of our bed? Extra storage for my closet? Then I thought since it had two opening drawers, we could place it by our entry door and store our socks in. Socks take up so much space in our dressers, this was the perfect move.

Breakdown of items:
1. Mirror from Home Goods: $49.99
2. Elephant from Home Goods: $9.99
3. Vase from Walmart: $9.99
4. Filler from Home Goods: $7.99
5. Candle holder from Savers: $5.99
6. TV Console originally bought from Target: I believe it was $119.99 at the time. (Avington?)
Majority of the items here were collected over a period of time. The only item purchased was the mirror for this decoration piece. I just love it, I think it works well with the wall color and I like how it reflects the natural lighting.
